How To Fix Miele Dishwasher F78 Error

The Miele Dishwasher F78 error indicates a problem with the circulation pump, which prevents water from moving effectively through the spray arms and cleaning the dishes. This error typically means the pump is blocked, malfunctioning, or experiencing electrical issues. When the F78 code appears, the dishwasher will not clean dishes thoroughly because the water spray flow is restricted.

Symptom: The dishwasher stops running, and the drain pump activates. A fault is recorded when the circulation pump ceases to operate.

Possible Causes:

• Interrupted connection between the electronics and the circulation pump.
• Faulty circulation pump (low or excess voltage, blocked, etc.)
• The frequency converter electronic is defective.

Solutions:

To resolve the Miele Dishwasher F78 Error, and before calling for a service to replace the pump or exchange the appliance, please try to perform the following steps:

• Heat 2 cups of warm tap water in the microwave for 3 minutes. (approximately 150-160F)
• Do not use hot tap water as it is not hot enough!
• Remove the filter assembly from the bottom of the dishwasher.
• Pour the hot water into the sump of the dishwasher and add 2-4 drops of rinseaid to the hot water.
• Let it sit for 5-7 minutes.
• While you are waiting for the hot water to heat up the circulation pump, access service mode and clear all fault codes.
• Start a new cycle after the time has elapsed. The hot water/rinse aid will drain out.
• The circulation pump will start after the dishwasher has filled with water. (Approximately 2 minutes).
• The pump should operate as normal.
• If the pump has not started after 2 minutes, try the hot water/rinse aid mixture again.
• If the pump has not started the circulation of water, call up service to replace the pump.
