Frigidaire Dishwasher ER Fault
⚠ Electric Shock Hazard ⚠
Disconnect power before servicing.
Failure to do so may result in electric shock, serious injury, or death. Always ensure the appliance is unplugged or the circuit breaker is turned off before performing any repairs or maintenance. Do not attempt repairs unless properly trained.
The Frigidaire dishwasher ER fault code means the top membrane switch has a stuck keypad and must be replaced. The following are the instructions for testing the keypads to determine which keypad is causing the fault.
When the ER code appears on the display, it means there is a stuck pad in the membrane switch (keypad). This is not a control problem, and replacing the electronic control will not clear this code. In most cases, the ER code is caused by the top membrane switch.
To Test the Membrane Switch, start by watching which stuck pad will light up with the lights for Power Failure (High Temp wash and No heat dry). For example, if on the top membrane switch, the High Temp wash, the No heat dry, and the Delay start pads are flashing, the pad stuck is the Delay Start pad.
An additional way to determine which keypad is causing the failure is with the ER fault code on the display, remove the top membrane ribbon from the control, and then press the Start/Cancel pad. In 5 to 10 seconds, the ER code should clear, and the display should be blank at this time. Press the Start/Cancel pad once more, and this will restart the previously selected cycle. If the ER code does not clear or the unit does not start, replace the front membrane switch.
