Washer is Not Spinning

Washer machine is not going through the spin cycle, leaving laundry soaking wet.  

  • Symptom: If your laundry is soaking wet at the end of the wash cycle that is the sing that your washer did not spin. There are so many different problems that can cause your washer not to spin. I'm just going to list a few of them.
  • Possible causes:
  1. Defective door latch.
  2. Washer is not draining.
  3. Mechanical problem such as clutch, rotor, stator, belt, transmission etc.
  4. Problems with electronics.
  5. Unbalanced load.
Solution:
  1. First check the washer drain cycle. If your washer is not draining it will not spin as well. Check your drain pump, hoses etc.
  2. Faulty door latch or lid lock/switch will prevent washer to spin. trouble shoot door clock or switch and replace if necessary.
  3. Troubleshoot control electronics for proper operation.

Washer is Making Noise

Washer machine is making noise when spinning, draining or washing. 

  • Symptom: Grinding or squeaking noise when washer is operating through the cycle.
  • Possible causes:
  1. Damaged tub bearing.
  2. Misaligned inner basket due to damaged tub bearing.
  3. Broken shock absorbers or outer tub springs
  4. Debris in the drain pump.
  5. Unbalanced load due to washer not being leveled.
Solution:
  1. The tub bearing is mounted in the middle of the outer tub. The washer is noisy when spinning or it is leaking from the tub due to damaged bearing or tub seal. Replacing the tub bearing and seal is a very complicated repair and will require disassembling most of the washer.
  2. If the washer inner basket is loose and it's making kind of clanking noise when spinning there is the problem with the tub bearing.
  3. Check washer shock absorbers, outer tub springs, suspensions or even counterbalance blocks. If damaged, replace them.
  4. Check drain pump for foreign object or debris.
  5. Make sure that your washer is leveled.

  2. Clogged drain pump filter.
  3. Broken drain pump impeller
  4. Clogged drain pipe (plumbing issue)
  5. Faulty door switch.
  6. Faulty electronics.

Solution:

  1. Check the drain hose for clogs or kinks.
  2. Clean the drain pump filter.
  3. Check the drain pump impeller
  4. Check for AC or DC power to the drain pump. If power present replaced the pump.

Washer Won’t Stop Filling

Washer won't stop filling with water, overflowing the tub and causing water leak and water damage.

  • Symptom: Washer won't stop filling with water and overflows the tub causing water leak.
  • Possible causes:
  1. Faulty water inlet valve.
  2. Faulty water level switch.
  3. Faulty water pressure hose.
  4. Faulty electronics.
Solution:
  1. Disconnect the power supply to the washer machine. If the washer continues to fill, replaced defective water inlet (solenoid) valve.
  2. Cancel the wash cycle. If the washer stops filling problem is most likely with water level sensor or pressure hose. The water level sensor is a pressure activated switch that is used to determine the correct water level in the tub. It is connected with washer outer tub with pressure hose. Make sure that the pressure hose is connected to the washer outer tub and the water level sensor. Check the pressure hose for tears, cracks or other damages.
