How To Refill Salt Dispenser In Your Miele Dishwasher

You’ll need to refill the salt dispenser in your Miele dishwasher every time when the salt indicator light comes on. Open the salt dispenser, place the funnel on the dispenser and carefully fill it with Miele dishwasher salt, all the way to the top. Remove the funnel and close the dispenser.

Dishwasher salt is a water softener, and when used correctly, dishwasher salt will improve the dishwasher’s ability to remove hard water spots, allowing you to enjoy spot-free dishes.

Dishwasher salt is different from traditional table salt. Table salt granules are too small, which can cause clogged drains when used inside a dishwasher. On the other hand, dishwasher salt is thicker and does not disturb the unit’s normal cleaning operations. Another significant difference between dishwasher salt and table salt is its chemical structure. Dishwasher salt typically contains 100% sodium chloride, where table salt contains additives like magnesium. The additives used in table salt may interfere with the dishwasher’s mechanical operation.

Not all dishwashers have the ability to use dishwasher salt. Only the units with dedicated salt containers have this option. The salt container is usually located on the bottom left side inside the dishwasher tub.

The following video explains how to refill the salt dispenser in the Miele dishwashing machines.
